The Health and Society Group (HSO) is recruiting a new professor and chair to succeed professor Maria Koelen who will retire in the upcoming period.
HSO is a vibrant group of dedicated academics that applies a sociological orientation to their research and education on health promotion, health protection and public health. This orientation is enriched with perspectives and insights from a variety of other scientific and societal disciplines to fully capture the complexity of health-related issues and roads to solutions.
The chair is embedded within the section and internationally renowned Centre for Space, Place and Society (CSPS), which brings together researchers from four chair groups within Wageningen University – Cultural Geography, Health & Society, Rural Sociology, and Sociology of Development and Change.
The new professor is expected to be skilled in inspiring and guiding the chair group members in continuing and expanding their research and education while establishing new networks to further strengthen the position of HSO within the national and international context.
