Conflict@WUR | Excursion Tracing WWII in Wageningen

On April 21, the Conflict Cluster had an excursion with the students of the course “Tracing WWII in Wageningen”- City Tour and visit to Hotel De Wereld, in which they looked into the ways in which the legacy of WWII in Wageningen is being maintained and negotiated, linking to themes discussed in the course around discourses of war and the politics of memory. The pictures give a taste of the city tour: 1) students look at how the statue Fly Away, Love and Peace got re-signified in relation to the current day refugee crisis; and 2) meet with Jelle de Gruyter -Netwerk Erfgoed Wageningen- and Hans ‘t Hooft- Hotel De Wereld- to discuss current efforts to share and “update” narratives of struggle and liberation.
