Join Us for an Engaging Symposium on Nature Connectedness!

This October, the Health and Environment Cluster from the Centre for Space, Place and Society at Wageningen University & Research invites you to an engaging symposium on Nature Connectedness. Mark your calendars and join us to learn how to foster health through our connection with the natural world!

Featured Talk:  “Noticing and Appreciating Nature: Nature Connectedness for Wellbeing” by prof. David Sheffield, researcher at the Nature Connectedness Research Group at University of Derby.

Location: Impulse

The talk will provide an overview of the concept of Nature Connectedness – people’s sense of relationship with the rest of the natural world. It will outline research on the growth and wellbeing benefits of closer relationships with nature, and discuss the design and outcomes of interventions for improving nature connectedness.

DAY PROGRAM

10:00 – 12:30: Morning Health & Environment Workshops (for PhD researchers)
Location: Gaia 2

  • PhD Workshop: Dive into “Actively Engaging People in Research – Working with Citizens – Methodology.” Limited seats available, so be sure to reserve your spot early!
  • Speed-Dating Networking Event: PhD researchers focusing on the intersection of environment and health are invited to connect and exchange ideas with peers in a dynamic setting.

13:30 – 14:30: ‘Connecting with Nature’, outdoor activity
At lunchtime, there will be an opportunity to connect with nearby nature through a guided outdoor activity, such as forest bathing or a sensory walk around campus.

16:00 – 17:00: The big Nature Connectedness quiz
Location: Impulse

Following David’s talk, engage in a lively quiz with our cluster members, exploring Nature Connectedness from various perspectives and challenging your assumptions!

17:00 – 18:00: Drinks
