Dr. Griffiths will explore the deeply intertwined relationships between war and the earth, from the bombed-out landscapes and depleted ecosystems left behind, to the often-overlooked โ€œbeforemathsโ€ โ€” the exploitative practices of resource extraction that fuel military violence. Through case studies ranging from Gaza and Iraq to the mining regions of the DRC, this talk unveils the global footprint of militarism and its enduring environmental and human costs.
