Book talk and workshop by Leslie Kern | Raising Our Expectations: Collective Care Practices in the University

On May 20, Leslie Kern returns for a book talk and workshop on her book Higher Expectations. This session will explore how academia can transform into a more equitable, caring, and collaborative space.

Date: Tuesday, May 20, 2025
Time: 15:00-17:00
Location: GAIA 2, Wageningen Campus

In Higher Expectations, Kern, alongside co-author Roberta Hawkins, explores how universities can be reimagined to foster better working conditions and more inclusive communities. Drawing on real-world examples from around the globe, the book offers actionable advice for tackling systemic issues in academia, such as discriminatory practices, hierarchical structures, and burnout.

This event is co-funded by WASS, GEO (The Wageningen Geography Lecture Series), AMS, the CSPS Gender & Diversity Cluster, the CSPS Foodscapes Cluster, and RSO.
