In this online seminar, Koen Lassauw will discuss the significance and challenges of creating early warning dashboards for dike breaches and flood risks in the Netherlands. The Netherlands contains a wealth of expertise, campaigns and technologies relating to the monitoring and prevention of dike breaches and flooding. However, between governments, crisis managers and responders and local communities, a lot of this knowledge becomes lost or fragmented. In response, a dike breach dashboard is currently being developed as a first attempt to bundle key information, forecasts and responsive practices. This constitutes an important step towards enhancing strategic cohesion and communication between Dutch safety regions, governments, inhabitants and other societal stakeholders in the face of mounting climate-related threats.
This webinar is organised as part of the LODESTAR (LOw-cost Disaster and Emergency Services for communiTies At Risk) research project.
