An Abundance of Elsewheres: Meshing with Earth Systems along the Alpine-Himalayan Orogeny

When: Friday, 13 February 2026 | 12:30–14:00
Where: Wageningen Campus, Lumen 1 and 2 | All welcome

Join Prof. dr. Edward H. Huijbens (Cultural Geography Group, GEO) as he shares insights from his autumn 2025 sabbatical—a three-month journey from Arnhem to Kathmandu using only public transport. Inspired by this adventure, he is finalizing a book under the working title An Abundance of Elsewheres: A Convivial Geography of the Alpine-Himalayan Orogeny.

In this session, Prof. Huijbens will present his observations and reflections, sparking a conversation about how we are all interconnected with Earth system dynamics, reaching deep into geological time.

Discover the extraordinary landscapes, geographies, and stories that link human journeys with the forces shaping our planet. Everyone is welcome!
